"Minnesnowta" a blustery cold poem for warm hearts
Another Minnesota winter looms. Loons fly overhead looking for warmer waters. The temperature today is 28 degrees and shrinks each day. There has been only a few lonely white flakes that have appeared but we Minnesotans know we can expect their larger friends soon.
People and animals alike are scurrying to finish last minute business. Leaves are disappearing into large brown paper bags and the landscape is changing to monotone gray and browns.
Turkeys have stopped shuddering in the cold, dark freezers in which they will temporarily reside. People are making plans for them as their mouths collectively water.
It's winter in Minnesota again, however, not officially until December 21, but our mindsets have already made the switch.
Minnesotans are known for their deeply cold winters and deeply warm hearts. It's a dynamic combination that creates a place and a people that are pleasantly uncommon.
